Heavy boats with a traditional 'fishy' look, a powerful engine, a protruding pilothouse and a variety of usually small and not so efficent sailing rigs, was (and to some extent still is) the paradigm of motorsailers in most people's minds. This vision of the concept, although absolutely respectable and producing many lovely shaped and seaworthy boats, able to go anywhere as my own good old Marie is, leaded to some spurning of the class among the cruising community, because of the inherent poor performance under sail alone of such designs. Nowadays, thanks to the actual pursuit of efficient short -crew all around cruisers, motorsailers are living a rebirth either in traditional or modern trends, be them coastal or globetrotters, with designs boosted by modern engines, equipment, construction materials and techniques.
These pages, initially within the web site of the Banjer 37 Motorsailer Club, pretend to be a place where to gather as most as possible information on motorsailers, for the enjoyment of motorsailers' owners, class lovers and aficionados, and open to the participation of enthousiastic individuals the world around, as well as collaborative professionals. They are published on an estrict non-for-profit and good faith basis, and no commercial or economical interest links the author with none of the boatbuilders, designers, booksellers and whatever other within these pages.
You are kindly invited to send your collaboration, opinion, ideas, etc, as well as information and images from specific motorsailers or motorsailers' related matters, to enrich and complete these pages. Everything will be most appreciated and welcome.
