Welcome to Mr. Zas's web site!

I am a teacher at Larkin High School. I teach in the ELL-Bilingual department where I teach Chemistry, Geology, Introduction to Physical Science, and General Science.

My educational background is in Science. I have a master's degree in Chemistry from the University of Santiago de Compostela in Galicia (Spain). I have also completed both my ELL and Bilingual endorsements after having taken the required classes with Illinois State University.

I have been teaching at Larkin for five years now. It's been a wonderful experience, full of challenges but also full with rewards. Seeing Larkin bilingual students grow, both personal and academically, has been great. It is my personal believe though, that these goals wouldn't have been accomplished without, among other things, a good parent-teacher communication.

That's why I encourage your active participation in the school process. Please, feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns about how your son or daughter is doing in class. You can email me, give me a call, or make an appointment with the bilingual department secretary.

This is how this web page looked like not so long ago. I'm going to keep this introduction even though I don't teach at Larkin any more. Now I am back at my home school in Spain, IES Adormideras, where I teach in the Bilingual Sections.

The reason to keep maintaining this web site is not only because I like it and because it reminds me of my good times at Larkin (once a royal, always a royal), but also because I think it's useful for my new students. I am actually using many of the activities, worksheets, etc. since my classes are still taught in English.

By the way, if you are a student in these Bilingual Sections, it wouldn't be a bad idea clicking on the links below, and trying to write down the lyrics of those two songs. Email them to me. You could earn some nice extra credit!!!!
